Products and Services

Rugby, UK, March 11, 2022--Three years ago I had the privilege of visiting an exceptional teleport in the English countryside, a teleport with state-of-the-art facilities laid out in beautiful, well-landscaped gardens and bucolic surroundings.  This teleport located in Rugby, England and operated by Satellite Mediaport Services (SMS) was featured in this magazine's May 2019 issue ("A Beautiful Setting for a State-of-the-Art Teleport").  A lot has happened over those three years - not the least of which is the global COVID-19 pandemic that catalyzed a satellite industry already seized in the grips of profound transformation.  So we thought to revisit and check up on this teleport located in its pastoral retreat for a live update.

Madrid, Spain, March 9, 2022. HISPASAT, the Spanish operator and satellite solutions and services provider of the Red Eléctrica Group, has reached an agreement with NAGRA, the world's leading independent provider of streaming, content protection and monetization solutions for digital television, to develop a wholesale OTT (Over-The-Top) television solution. While its launch is planned for Spring of 2022, a demonstration is now available for interested clients. The service will enable pay-TV operators, Internet service providers (ISPs) and regional content companies to offer their clients a high-quality multiscreen entertainment service that is distributed through the Internet without having to roll out their own infrastructure. This reduces both the initial investment and the time needed to launch this type of solution.
